Activity sheet: Make your own playdough
This activity is a fun way for your child to get some practice measuring! You can also use the playdough to explore fractions. See the Maths at home: Measurement and Maths at home: Fractions articles for more information.
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup plain flour
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- ½ cup salt
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 1 cup water
- a few drops of food colour
Method:
- Mix all ingredients together in a medium saucepan.
- Stir over a medium heat until the mixture comes together. Children may need adult help or supervision with this step.
- Scrape the dough onto a bench, allow to cool and knead until it is smooth and pliable.
- Store in an airtight container to prevent it drying out.
